Paris Saint-Germain faced Saint-Etienne at the Parc des Princes on Sunday, as part of the 17th day of the Ligue 1 2024-2025. After a match in which the Reds and Blues made a number of changes to their starting 11, they won 2-1. Here are our notes on the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Gianluigi Donnarumma (6) – A serious first half, even at the back. Couldn’t do much about the Greens’ free-kick.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (6.5) – Did his Hakimi thing, making runs and showing intensity. Lacked attacking accuracy in the first half.
Lucas Hernandez (6) – A serious match for him. Made some interesting comebacks. Still recovering. Replaced in the 63rd minute by Willian Pacho.
Lucas Beraldo (6) – Nothing negative to report in the first half. Did the job. Overall, a good match, with his passing and ball control often coming to the fore. Defensively, he was always a little behind or on the edge.
Nuno Mendes (5) – Enchanting and frustrating. He’s capable of causing great harm with his forward runs, just as he was capable of giving St-Etienne dangerous balls. In the end, he made a few poor choices.
Midfielders –
Lee Kang-in (4) – Good shot, good activity, but nothing sensational in the first half. His second half was pretty poor. We didn’t see much of him.
Senny Mayulu (6.5) – Got off to a good start, then gradually lost his rhythm. Still, he had a very good game. Replaced by Senny Mayulu in the 71st minute.
Fabian Ruiz (6.5) – Made some good runs off the ball and defended well. An interesting first half. He’s still a fair player. Still, he brings stability.
Forwards –
Ousmane Dembélé (8) – Two goals, realism and desire, Dembélé was very good in the first half. The second half was less exciting, but we’re not going to deny ourselves the pleasure of seeing him hurt an opposing team.
Gonçalo Ramos (4) – We didn’t see much of him in the first half. Missed a few chances. Replaced in the 63rd minute by Désiré Doué.
Bradley Barcola (5) – Lots of energy and desire, but still struggled in front of goal. An encouraging first half for him, though, as he never gave up. He needs to score in this match, but his confidence is slipping away. Replaced by Warren Zaïre-Emery in the 83rd minute.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (7) – Another strong selection, another victory, and he deserves some of the credit. He managed the game perfectly, even if we saw that the team lacked automatism with all the changes. He was able to restore Dembélé’s confidence and, above all, keep everyone active for the upcoming matches.
