This Wednesday evening, the soccer world was abuzz with a new multiplex for the final day of the Champions League group stages. And it was Stuttgart who hosted Paris Saint-Germain in this final group clash. Leclub de la Capitale needed at least a draw to win, and they did just that with a hat-trick from Dembélé (1-4, video highlights Stuttgart/PSG). Bradley Barcola, Stuttgart’s first goalscorer of the evening, spoke to Canal+ Sport about his side’s qualification:
Barcola: “We’re happy and proud of our qualification”
Paris has become unplayable?
We realized that we had to win these games and that it was very important. We worked a lot, and in our heads we had to be much more efficient. We knew that’s what we’d been lacking for a while, and now we’ve got it back. We’re happy and proud of our qualification. We really worked hard to get here.
Was it a turning point for Ousmane and for you?
Yes, that’s right, we realized that if we didn’t score we couldn’t win. We got it into our heads that it was very important, especially for us strikers.
Are you happy to face a French club? Which do you prefer?
We’re not necessarily happy, but it’s going to be a tough match. We’ll see who we come up against and try to get the job done.
