The 2024-2025 winter mercato has arrived (throughout January), so the rumors surrounding Paris Saint-Germain have been piling up. While PSG have brought in 23-year-old Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and the departures include Xavi Simons, Juan Bernat, Randal Kolo Muani and Milan Skriniar, Djamel has announced that the mercato is over in terms of arrivals – no big surprise there. Marco Asensio could yet jump ship.
“Barring any last-minute surprises, the PSG mercato in terms of new arrivals is well and truly over.
As far as departures are concerned, the club is open to the sale of Marco Asensio, and Luis Enrique has agreed to part with him if a satisfactory offer arrives.
PSG will continue to monitor the market to strengthen their squad next summer.”
As we all know, you can’t count on a flurry of new recruits in winter. PSG have already struck a blow by bringing in Georgian striker Kvaratskhelia. However, a last-minute bid is not out of the question, especially as PSG had made it clear that new arrivals would only be made in the event of a departure.
So we can still imagine that not all options are closed. Luis Enrique does not want to buy for the sake of buying, and may be tempted to wait until this summer to recover some of his key players.
