On Tuesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain beat Brest 0-3 at the Stade du Roudourou in the first leg of the Champions League 2024-2025 play-off (video highlights Brest/PSG, return on February 19). Ousmane Dembélé scored a brace in the process. An impressive performance in itself, but the 27-year-old striker also set a new Paris record.
“Ousmane Dembélé has scored in his last 8 games with #PSG and makes history @dembouz equals the record co-held by :
Kylian Mbappé (season 19-20)
Neymar (2 times: season 19-20 and between season 21-22 and 22-23)
Carlos Bianchi (season 78-79)”
It’s an immense achievement, and all the more so when you consider that efficiency has long been Dembélé’s major flaw. He has turned a corner this season. Of course, that’s the way it is in top-level soccer. But it’s already a milestone and one that will go down in history.
And let’s not forget his crazy run of form over the last 4 games: hat-trick, hat-trick, double and double. We can only hope that the striker can keep up this momentum, even if there will logically be fewer goals at some point. It would be nice to reach 9 games, even if there’s only one goal in the next match.
