Lionel Messi, the 37-year-old current Inter Miami striker, is gradually moving towards the end of his career. While he enjoyed great success with FC Barcelona, his decision to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, until 2023, did not bring him the success he had hoped for. Speaking to Apple Music, the 2022 World Cup winner once again looked back on his chaotic time at the club.
Messi “I wasn’t happy on a daily basis”
“The way things evolved over my last few years in Paris, even though it was a decision I had to make on the spot, because I had to leave Barcelona, I had two years that I didn’t enjoy. I wasn’t happy on a daily basis, with the training sessions, the matches, I found it hard to adapt to it all.”
If he wasn’t happy on a day-to-day basis, it also showed on the pitch. Objectively speaking, Lionel Messi has been one of the biggest disappointments of the QSI era. His stint was catastrophic and, above all, failed to help PSG achieve its objectives, either domestically or in Europe.
Nevertheless, his arrival enabled the Parisian management to understand that the arrival of stars was no guarantee of success. It also enabled them to rebuild their project, and get to know the team and the collective we know today.
