Trained at Paris Saint-Germain, former player and now consultant Nicolas Anelka also played for Liverpool in 2002. He will be keeping a close eye on the 8th Champions League final between the two teams, the first leg of which takes place this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes. Speaking to RMC Sport, the former Parisian spoke of the clash and its importance.
Anelka “It’s at the end of this straight that we’ll judge their season”.
“There are experienced players who are used to this. To prioritize the Champions League, yes and no. There are quite a few players who can be replaced, and the level will remain the same. I don’t think there will be any priorities. They have a vision with a treble. Everything will be fine because the squad is homogeneous.
They’ve managed to rectify all that. Things have been going well since City. We’re really seeing a different team. So far, it’s a perfect record. We’re coming up to the money-time. It’s at the end of this straight that we’ll judge their season.”
PSG are obviously entering the most important period of their season. Whether the first few months of competition are good or not, it’s from March onwards that everything is confirmed. PSG’s current form bodes well for the future, but this match against Liverpool will tell us a lot about the club’s ability to compete with the best.
The capital club is still improving, so there’s no real pressure in view of this match. But it seems clear that, given recent results, all the fans are expecting a great match and, above all, a positive result at the Parc des Princes.
