This Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain take on Liverpool at the Parc des Princes for the Champions League 2024-2025 round of 16 (kick-off 9pm, UTC+1). On the eve of the match, Le Parisien and L’Equipe have put forward the same likely Parisian team.
Barcola – Dembélé – Doué
Ruiz – Vitinha – Neves
Mendes – Pacho – Marquinhos – Hakimi
Donnarumma.
It’s an entirely possible team, but that doesn’t mean it’s certain. But it does seem to be a selection of the most in-form players of the moment, with a certain sense of the opponent.
In particular, PSG’s “wingers” are very effective and Ousmane Dembélé is extremely free to create extra space, while Liverpool’s defence is very strong in the middle (Konaté and Van Dijk) and more fragile on the wings.
Khvicha Kvaratkshelia could still have his say, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him start, but logically he’s still adapting, whereas Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué have all the automatic skills. And they’ve been shining lately.
Doué could also play in midfield. But the trio announced here is difficult to pull off. Warren Zaïre-Emery, back from injury, would be a surprise. As for the defense, the regulars for the big nights seem clear for the moment.
