This Sunday evening, Ligue 1 witnessed one of the most eagerly-awaited clashes of the season, with the classico between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille. And it was at the end of a well-managed match that the Rouge et Bleu came out on top 3-1 against the Phocéens (video highlights PSG/OM). Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi spoke to DAZN about his team’s defeat, and expressed his frustration:
De Zerbi: “It’s frustrating because I wanted to come here in a different way”
You must be frustrated, what happened?
I think we conceded three goals in the wrong way. They were easy situations, especially the first goal. A long ball from Donnarumma, an easy situation to defend. We knew exactly what we had to do and we made a mistake. The second goal was another easy situation and we didn’t understand Fabian Ruiz’s attack from space. We played a good game, but not good enough to pick up any points. It’s frustrating because at the start I wanted to come here in a different way.
Is this pressure for the future?
No, no, we have to play eight games to deserve to stay in second place. The championship is difficult for everyone. You can see Lille, Nice, but we have to fight to reach our goal because this competition is really difficult.
Why did you play without Greenwood?
I don’t think he’s in good physical condition. He’s a crucial player for us and if I’m not mistaken, at the start of the season Dembélé wasn’t in the starting 11 for several games in a row. We need him, but he has to be in good physical condition. It’s very important to play good soccer in this period.
