This Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain take on Aston Villa at Villa Park in the second leg of their Champions League 2024-2025 quarter-final (Paris won 3-1 in the first leg) (kick-off 9pm, CET). Paris coach Luis Enrique must choose his starting 11, taking into account the opponent, upcoming matches and suspension risks, after having formed the Parisian squad for this match.
Luis Enrique’s choices are always difficult to guess, but there seems to be an obvious element this time. PSG largely dominated the first leg and have had time to prepare without playing this weekend, so we’re expecting a team close to the first game.
However, Marquinhos will be back and should start in the center of defense. Lucas Beraldo should then return to the bench. In midfield, it could be the same line of 3, although Warren Zaïre-Emery could also have his say. There’s also the possible surprise of Désiré Doué, who could otherwise simply start up front again.
Except that he could also be replaced by Bradley Barcola. The latter could also take Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s place, even if it seems difficult to pull out one of the best players from last Wednesday’s victory. That leaves Ousmane Dembélé, although it would be surprising to see him on the bench.
Luis Enrique knows how to surprise. And it could be with an option not mentioned here.
Possible line-up:
Kvaratskhelia – Dembélé – Doué
Ruiz – Vitinha – Neves
Mendes – Pacho – Marquinhos – Hakimi
Donnarumma
Substitutes – Safonov, Tenas, Beraldo, Hernandez, Kimpembe, Mayulu, Zaïre-Emery, Barcola, Lee, Mbaye, Ramos.
Out – El Hannach, Tape, Zague (choice).
Possible suspension for yellow card: None, except for a direct red card, as yellows are reset to 0 in the semi-finals. In the event of a red card, the player would miss the first leg of the semi-final.
