On Friday, as part of the 31st day of the Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain took on Nice at the Parc des Princes. Nice coach Franck Haise spoke at a press conference following Nice’s 1-3 victory (video highlights PSG/Nice). He spoke of this exceptional success, which was achieved with a great deal of success.
Haise “Paris had more shots, more chances and more control”.
“When you beat PSG, at home, in that season, it’s an achievement. Paris had more shots, more chances and more control, as they do every weekend. Everything had to line up for an exploit: attacking efficiency – which hadn’t always been the case in recent weeks – defending as well as possible, loosening the grip from time to time and having a goalkeeper who made some exceptional saves. When it all comes together, it’s a real feat.
Haise “The hardest thing is to reproduce it.”
What’s your recipe for beating them?
OGC Nice also came here to win when I wasn’t the coach. I don’t have the recipe. We tried to make the heart of the game denser, and from time to time we had a bit of extra space when we had the ball.
With four games to go, I don’t know who would have bet on us. This fine victory proves that this group is capable of great things, even if we have to defend a lot and have little possession of the ball. The hardest thing is to reproduce it”, comments relayed by L’Equipe.
While the press and some Parisian fans are already very negative after this first Ligue 1 defeat of the season, it’s interesting to see Haise pointing out that in terms of content, PSG were far superior to Nice.
That’s not to say that Nice didn’t deserve their victory – efficiency is part and parcel of soccer. In fact, it’s essential. And they were better in this area, with their precise shooting and a goalkeeper in exceptional form. Good for them, the points are precious.
Now, as the Aiglons’ coach points out, the challenge will be to keep the momentum going. We need to keep our heads on our shoulders and be ready to fight again in the same way against another opponent. Watch out for a relapse next weekend.
