This week saw the first leg of the Champions League 2024-2025 semi-finals. UEFA then organizes a series of fan votes. Paris Saint-Germain, who beat Arsenal 0-1 at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, had one player in contention for the Champions League Player of the Year award. The competition was between Vitinha (25-year-old midfielder) and Denzel Dumfries (29-year-old right-back from Inter Milan). Dumfries came out on top.
A fine success for the Dutchman, who scored twice in the 3-3 win over Barcelona. Vitinha was a tough act to follow, especially as his award for player of the match was questionable in the face of competition from the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma (26-year-old goalkeeper), Nuno Mendes (22-year-old left-back) and Fabian Ruiz (29-year-old midfielder).
