This Monday morning, Le Parisien reported that Paris Saint-Germain had decided to part company with Fabrice Abriel, coach of the women’s team since the summer, and that he would be officially sacked today. Journalist Bruno Salomon (Ici Paris) then confirmed the news.
“I can confirm the information from @le_Parisien_PSG @B_Quarez Fabrice Abriel, coach of the women’s section, will be relieved of his duties in the coming hours.”
So there’s no longer any real doubt, with two very reliable media outlets agreeing in a very short space of time. What’s more, it’s a departure that makes a lot of sense, given the team’s disappointing results and too many tensions over the course of the season.
The small surprise may be the timing, as there’s still the Arkéma Première Ligue playoff to be played (semi-final on May 11 against Paris FC). But it could be a way of hoping for a better performance at the end of the season. In any case, the name of the replacement has not yet been mentioned.
