Franco Mastantuono, a 17-year-old attacking midfielder under contract to River Plate until December 2026, is a new talent on the Argentine soccer scene. He has recently been announced as a potential target for Paris Saint-Germain this summer. However, TNT Sports Argentina and journalist Fabrizio Romano claim that PSG will have to fight it out with Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid have joined the list of interested parties for Mastantuono, starting negotiations and making enquiries with his entourage. PSG have now entered the race to recruit him.”
El PSG es el gran favorito para fichar a MASTANTUONO… ¡PERO HA LLEGADO EL REAL MADRID! 🇦🇷👀 ¡Y aquí empieza otra guerra! 🍿
“PSG are favourites to sign Mastantuono…but Real Madrid have arrived! And so begins another war. Fabrizio Romano’s bombshell.”
Always beware of rumours. For example, Mastantuono seemed to have almost arrived at PSG and now there’s possible competition from Real Madrid. A sign that it wasn’t a done deal. But we don’t know how much Real Madrid really want to try. Nor do we know whether Paris has made any real progress.
So we’ll have to wait and see. Not forgetting that such rumours could come from River Plate or the player’s entourage, in order to put a little pressure on the discussions. It’s the mercato game: certainties only come with official announcements. But perhaps a battle between the two clubs has indeed begun for Mastantuono. It wouldn’t be the first between the two clubs, nor the last.
