Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Sunday against Chelsea at New York’s MetLife Stadium in the final of the 2025 Club World Cup (kick-off 9pm CET, Chelsea/PSG broadcast on DAZN).

Contents
5 – Reunion with Nkunku.4 – A very accessible match.3 – Doué or Barcola?2 – Enjoy one last time.1 – A title to cap an historic season.

5 – Reunion with Nkunku.

Kylian Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid was the talk of the media, Christopher Nkunku’s much less so. However, PSG are set to reunite with Nkunku, who left RB Leipzig in 2019. He signed for Chelsea in 2023 and has had an up-and-down adventure, with more playing time of late. It’s a pleasure to be able to cross paths with him, even if he knows the Parisian curse of conceding a goal quite often in this situation.

4 – A very accessible match.

Before the return of pay-per-view competitions next season, this final is particularly “easy” to watch. DAZN is broadcasting it for free, both on TV and via streaming. It would be a shame to miss out on the event.

3 – Doué or Barcola?

It’s one of the few suspense stories in PSG’s line-up today, as the competition for a starting line-up for the end of the season continues. Désiré Doué (20) or Bradley Barcola (22) on the right? The former is more at ease in small spaces and combinations, while the latter is almost unrivalled in depth. Without one of them being “outdated” in the other’s speciality.

Of course, they could also both start, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24) on the bench. But that would be a bit of a surprise. The debate can continue from now until kick-off, with small changes in the Parisian game depending on the choice made.

2 – Enjoy one last time.

It can be tiring, especially for the players, but we’ve got used to having 1 match every 3-4 days, or at worst the following weekend. This time, and it seems almost strange, it’s the last match of the season.

Then there’s exactly 1 month to wait for the European Supercup against Tottenham. Which doesn’t sound like much, but we all know how quickly we’ll miss it. So we have to make the most of it.

And let’s not forget that a new season will require us to get the momentum going again. Soccer is made up of cycles. We hope that this stunning PSG will last, but we can’t be sure.

1 – A title to cap an historic season.

Before we get into this strange period with no matches and only a lot of mercato, there’s something very big to accomplish: one more title to win. PSG can win every possible trophy in a season.

Including this first Club World Cup, a double with the Champions League that will undoubtedly remain a rarity. There’s enough here to make history. It would be a shame to miss out, ending on a disappointment (even if it shouldn’t overshadow the season).
