As reported by Mundo Deportivo a few hours ago, Paris Saint-Germain has made changes to its medical staff. Juan José Morillas has changed roles slightly, taking on more senior responsibilities. Sergi Mateo has also joined from Girona as a nutritionist.
« Having joined the club since the summer of 2022 as the professional team’s nutritionist, Juan José Morillas is now expanding his responsibilities to all of Paris Saint-Germain’s sports departments. Joining the medical and performance department, he will be tasked with leveraging his expertise and methodology while coordinating the nutritional strategies best suited to the needs of our athletes.
Furthermore, after reviewing several applications, Sergi Mateo was selected by the Medical Department to take charge of the professional team. Former nutritionist for Girona FC, Sergi Mateo will take up his duties when training resumes on August 6, 2025.
It’s often difficult to measure the impact of the medical team at the club, yet it’s far from negligible. This 2024-2025 season has been a good reminder of this, as PSG has been greatly aided by a squad with few injuries. This allows the coach to always have options, to play off the competition, and to avoid overloading players.
Paris is showing here that there’s no question of resting on this particularly successful season. The work remains very serious, even more demanding, in order to grow even further..
