Lucas Chevalier, 23-year-old goalkeeper for Lille (contract until 2027) and the French national team, is reportedly close to Paris Saint-Germain in this transfer window to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma (26, contract until 2026, extension blocked). L’Equipe, Le Parisien, and journalist Abdellah Boulma confirm that the agreement between the clubs is settled, apart from a few details.
L’Equipe:
“PSG sent a new proposal to Lille in the last few hours to satisfy the northern club’s demands. This offer is estimated at just over €40 million, excluding bonuses. The two clubs now need to finalize the details and put this agreement in writing before finalizing the transfer. It’s simply a matter of hours.
Lucas Chevalier will then be allowed to travel to the capital to undergo his medical and sign his five-year contract. Paris wanted to resolve the matter quickly in order to count on the Frenchman next Wednesday during the European Super Cup against Tottenham in Udine (Italy). Everyone agrees this Thursday that this will be the case.”
Le Parisien :
“Lucas Chevalier has reached an agreement at PSG, as reported by L’Équipe and confirmed by le Parisie. Lille and Paris have agreed to a fee of €40 million excluding bonuses.”
Abdellah Boulma :
“Lucas Chevalier to PSG, it’s almost a done deal
Agreement sealed with Lille for an estimated amount of around €40 million excluding bonuses, as reported by L’Equipe.”
It’s not official yet, so we should remain cautious. However, seeing these media outlets and journalists agree at roughly the same time suggests that progress is indeed being made. This is excellent news, because it was about time to see the PSG transfer window materialize. Even if the Donnarumma issue remains to be resolved.
As for the price, €40 million in fixed terms has often been mentioned. The suspense surrounds the bonuses; RMC Sport has mentioned a significant portion at €10-15 million. Let’s wait and see for sure the details.
