As it does after every season’s championship, L’Équipe has established its team of the year for the second matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026, which took place this weekend. With their 1-0 victory against Angers at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain has one of their players selected.
Fabian Ruiz (29-year-old midfielder) is no surprise in this team of the year, as he was invaluable in the game and scored the winning goal. This obviously helps to make an impression and stand out. It’s hard to see which other Parisian could have been selected. PSG won rather comfortably, except that they didn’t particularly shine either, while other Ligue 1 teams and players were able to put in more impressive performances. So much the better; it’s a league with great qualities.
