Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse faced off this Saturday at the Stade de France in Matchday 3 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. The match ended in a 3-6 victory for Paris. After the match, Toulouse coach Carles Martinez Novell spoke at a press conference. He was keen to downplay the goals conceded.
“When you concede one goal, then two, it becomes difficult in your head. The team wasn’t magnificent before this match, and it wasn’t catastrophic afterward either,” L’Equipe reported.
Of course, the start of the match could have hurt a lot. PSG wasn’t necessarily as dominant as in previous matches, and certainly not throughout the entire match, but they were much more effective. This is due, in particular, to João Neves (20-year-old midfielder) in a state of grace. He transformed difficult shooting situations into superb goals.
It’s difficult to recover and have a real chance of taking points against the Parisians when they’ve had this kind of success. Toulouse still made mistakes and obviously needs to correct certain aspects. But Martinez Novell is right not to overreact. We shouldn’t forget that his team was able to hamper PSG in the game and displayed remarkable resilience.
