Paris Saint-Germain’s 2025 summer transfer window is almost over. As for new signings, it’s officially over in France. There are still potential departures, with the market still open for a few days in Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, among others. Presnel Kimpembe (30-year-old defender) comes into play. But it’s still a good time to take stock of the summer:

Clearly, this transfer window is marked by the stability of the squad and the departure of players who are no longer in coach Luis Enrique’s plans. This is no great surprise, as most of them were already on loan last season. PSG is confident in its squad, something that surprises, even disappoints, some fans and journalists who were hoping for more signings.

But Paris has just had a historic season, remarkable for its play and energy. It’s logical for the Champions League winner not to turn everything upside down, but simply to seek to improve little by little while preparing for the future (Renato Marin is 19, Khalil Ayari is 20, Lucas Chevalier and Ilya Zabarnyi are 23). We’ve already seen champions lose their way by trying to have too much.

Paris also wants to make room for the youngsters in its youth academy, without forgetting that its squad is generally young and therefore needs to grow. There is quality in every position, and improving is complicated, with difficult negotiations to be conducted and sometimes prices deemed too high.

In any case, PSG doesn’t seem to be throwing itself into failure, even if some like to over-dramatize.
