Paris Saint-Germain, winners of the 2025 Champions League, will play in the Intercontinental Cup final on December 17 in Doha. Already qualified, the Parisian club will be looking to win a sixth title this year, having previously won Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the Trophée des Champions, the Champions League, and the European Super Cup.

“Having already hosted the 2024 edition, which saw Real Madrid emerge victorious, Qatar will once again host the FIFA Intercontinental Cup next December. As the 2025 UEFA Champions League winners, Paris Saint-Germain are automatically qualified for the final of the tournament, which will take place in Doha on December 17. The Parisian club will aim to win its sixth trophy of the calendar year (French Super Cup, Coupe de France, Ligue 1, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup).

In the meantime, five other clubs, all winners of their respective continental Champions League competitions, will participate in a mini-tournament to determine which team will face PSG: CF Cruz Azul (Mexico), Pyramids FC (Egypt), Auckland City (New Zealand), Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia), and the 2025 Copa Libertadores champions (the final will be played on November 29 in Lima, Peru). These teams will have between two and three matches to play before reaching the final.”

PSG will not have to go through the mini-qualifying tournament, reserved for other continental champions such as Cruz Azul, Pyramids FC, Auckland City, and Al Ahli. These clubs will have to play two or three matches in a row before hoping to challenge the Parisian giants, the competition’s logical favorites. This format clearly favors the capital club, which arrives rested and armed with its stars to compete for an additional trophy on the world stage.

The symbolism will be powerful: winning this sixth title in Doha, the home of its majority shareholder, would give special resonance to an already historic year for PSG. This competition is one more way for PSG to write its history, even if on December 17, the club will also have other competitions to contend with.
