Marquinhos (31), defender and captain of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke at a press conference this Wednesday ahead of facing Atalanta at the Parc des Princes tomorrow (kick-off at 9 p.m., CET) in the opening match of the 2025–2026 Champions League. On the sidelines of the event, the Brazilian also spoke to PSG TV, discussing the mindset required to start the campaign as defending champions.
Marquinhos: “We’re feeling good, we’re confident.”
How is the team doing? How are you?
“We’re feeling good, we’re confident. We’ve had a good week and good training sessions. Everyone will give their maximum — we have the squad for that. We’re hoping for a good win at home.”
Marquinhos: “It won’t be any different this season if we want to make history again.”
Any special mindset as defending champions? You scored against Atalanta in 2020, didn’t you?
“Yes, I have good memories. But as we always say, every match has its own story. That was my goalscoring period (laughs). I still hope to feel the emotion of a win again.”
“The message is always the same: be ambitious, fight as much as possible. We won with character, and the journey was long and difficult. It won’t be any different this season if we want to make history again. We have to start by winning tomorrow.”
