Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (1st), spoke at a press conference this Saturday ahead of facing Olympique de Marseille (7th) at the Stade Vélodrome Monday (kick-off at 8:00 p.m., CET) for Matchday 5 of Ligue 1 2025-2026. On the sidelines of this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Enrique: “We lived up to our supporters.”
What did you like about your players against Atalanta?
“I think it was a very complete match. We managed to overcome their pressure when they had three players on one. We had a very good first half. I think we deserved this victory. In the second half they defended deeper, but that’s normal. We lived up to our supporters.”
Enrique: “I felt this connection between the supporters and the team.”
Matches against Marseille are always intense. You favor calmness—how crucial is that when going to the Vélodrome?
“Normally, when you arrive at a very important match and everyone is nervous, for me it’s essential to manage that pressure. In this kind of game, the most important thing is the mindset. We’ve been lucky to receive the energy of the supporters at the training ground. That’s very important.
Today we’ve been able to receive that energy and in this way we prepare for the match in the best possible conditions. Winning trophies is important, but nothing beats the joy of the supporters—making them proud. I feel that in Paris, everyone thanks me. Since I arrived here, I’ve felt this connection between the supporters and the team.”
