Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations sometimes). We’ll revisit the attractive features before each match with a mix of seriousness and humor. Please note, this is not an exhaustive overview. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Wednesday against FC Barcelona at the Montjuïc Stadium on Matchday 2 of the 2025-2026 Champions League (kick-off 9 p.m., CET).
5 – A delayed “final.”
At the end of last season, seeing the semi-final schedule, many hoped to see PSG and Barça face off in the Champions League final. But the Catalans, as they have repeatedly pointed out, lost in the final minutes to Inter Milan and “just missed out on the title.” This will be an opportunity to finally have this match, even if the context is less exciting. And the result won’t change the trophy won by PSG on May 31st.
4 – A 9 to find.
Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé absent, Gonçalo Ramos out of form, Senny Mayulu perhaps a little “soft” for this match, Lee Kang-In possibly not “killer” enough… There is doubt about PSG’s attacking center. We are very curious to see the solution chosen by coach Luis Enrique and its result.
3 – A “test” for Chevalier.
Lucas Chevalier, 23-year-old goalkeeper, has the heavy responsibility of replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma (26), who was asked to leave while talks for his contract extension were stalled and signed with Manchester City. Everyone is waiting for him, every move is being judged. The Champions League will be a particular opportunity to “judge” him. Ten days after his mistake in El Clasico, the goalkeeper will be highly anticipated and must score points.
2 – A fast-paced match is promised.
Both PSG and Barça have very attacking teams, and neither should opt for a deep block. The idea will be to try to control the ball and impose their philosophy on the other team. We can be sure that this battle will be intense, and the level should be very high. We can also hope for great chances and a spectacular performance. Preferably, with PSG coming out on top.
1 – A very good European clash.
Beyond the game, this is a special match. Between the matches that have left their mark on the clubs’ history, the “battles” during the transfer window, and the various statements, including those surrounding the Super League, a certain rivalry has developed. Not to mention what we mentioned earlier: the fact that this is a match that was eagerly awaited last season to separate two of the best teams of the moment.
