As part of Matchday 7 of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain traveled to face LOSC Lille at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy (1–1). Following the match, PSG head coach Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV.
Enrique: “We know there’s some fatigue”
“It was a complete match from us, and I think we had more control in the first half. What we did was good. Today we focused on the players’ fitness, because after the game against Barcelona, we know there’s some fatigue. We have to prepare them for the upcoming international schedule. I think the rest we were able to give some of them during the first 60 minutes of this match against Lille was important.”
Enrique: “I think we deserved a little more than them”
“All the players who started played a great match. This is a difficult stadium to win in. Lille is a tough side, they’re also playing in Europe, and they have many quality players. They played well, but I think we deserved a little more than them tonight. It’s just a shame they managed to equalize at the end of the game.”
A draw in which PSG probably deserved more. The Parisians dominated and created several chances, but Lille showed more efficiency, scoring with one of their three shots on target. Still, this remains a solid result for a Paris side still missing several key players.
A draw away from home against a strong and in-form Lille side is a good point overall. Nevertheless, the international break should allow the injured players to recover fully. The next month will be just as crucial, with two upcoming Champions League fixtures — including the home clash against Bayern Munich on November 4.
