This Thursday, October 16, the day before the international break against Strasbourg, Paris Saint-Germain has a small event to celebrate. It’s the birthday of Willian Pacho, the defender who turns 24 today.

Pacho’s arrival at PSG in the summer of 2024 from Eintracht Frankfurt was one of the big surprises of this transfer window. Some were quick to criticize the €40 million outlay for a player they didn’t really know.

The Ecuadorian quickly showed that Paris, unsurprisingly, doesn’t recruit at random. A quick adaptation, progress, and an aggressiveness that does this group a world of good, all while remaining calm in his game. Pacho quickly established himself. He was even a key player in the Champions League victory and is taking his place among the best in the world in his position.

We can only hope he continues to perform well now that there’s more demand for him. But there’s no sense that any pressure could bother him. We wish him continued success, and we wish him a happy birthday.
