“With the new format, teams will play eight matches in the new league phase (formerly the group stage). They will no longer face three opponents twice – home and away – but eight different teams, playing half of these matches at home and half away.”

Qualifications based on standings:

1st to 8th: qualification for the round of 16.

9th to 24th: Qualify for a two-legged play-off.

25th to 36th: Eliminated from all European competitions.
