This Tuesday, November 4th, Paris Saint-Germain will face Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 9 p.m., CET) in Matchday 4 of the 2025-2026 Champions League. And as before every match, here’s a preview of the Parisians’ opponent.
Bayern’s situation –
Bayern Munich is one of the great historic clubs in Europe, and we’re used to seeing them play a leading role in the Champions League. A season without a title is a failure for the Bavarians, and they fulfilled their mission for the 2024-2025 season by winning the league. This was well-deserved, as they were 13 points ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
On the other hand, there have been disappointments in the German Cup and the Champions League, with eliminations in the round of 16 against Leverkusen (0-1) and in the quarter-finals against Inter Milan (3-4). Then there was the Club World Cup quarter-final against PSG.
But coach Vincent Kompany is understandably keeping his job for the time being, despite the recent high turnover of managers at Bayern Munich, as the team’s performance has been convincing. This is particularly true at the start of this season, with a remarkable run in both the Bundesliga (1st place) and the Champions League (2nd with 3 wins, 12 goals scored and 2 conceded). Simply put, the Bavarians have won every match since their 2-0 defeat against PSG (18 matches, including friendlies).

Bayern’s playing style.
As is their tradition, Bayern Munich plays a very attacking game. The idea is clearly to stifle the opponent in their own half and score as many goals as possible. Even if it means taking the risk of conceding a few goals, even if it hasn’t happened often in the league this season.
We’ve seen some limitations in the Champions League, and perhaps Vincent Kompany will want to adapt a little to PSG’s attacking potential. Paris could also be wary of a fully fit Olise or a still-killer Kane, who is also capable of dropping deep to initiate chances. The match promises to be a spectacle, however, as we don’t expect a team to play with a deep block. The Club World Cup quarter-final was very intense.
