On Tuesday, during Matchday 4 of the 2025-2026 Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain faced Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes. After a match where the Parisians were largely dominated in the first half, they lost 1-2. Here are our player ratings for the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Lucas Chevalier (4) – Not much to say except that he didn’t perform any miracles. In this type of match, you also have to be able to save difficult situations, and so far, he hasn’t been able to. It’s a tough learning curve. A very quiet second half, as Bayer played very defensively following the red card.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (Not rated) – Substituted in the 45th minute, replaced by Senny Mayulu (4) – A fairly neutral appearance. We know him; he’s usually quite clean. Perhaps a little too much so in this match.
Marquinhos (4) – A big mistake on the second goal. He seemed overwhelmed by Bayern’s pace. In the second half, he played very high up the pitch, less troubled by the Bayern players who were focused on defending.
Willian Pacho (6) – Solid, as always. He showed he has the level for this kind of match. His first half was decent considering Bayern Munich’s attacking intensity.
Nuno Mendes (4) – He didn’t have a bad game overall. However, he was less incisive than usual. He looked very frustrated in the second half by the time the Munich players took to play set pieces.
Midfielders –
Warren Zaïre-Emery (5.5) – Lively at the start of the match, he gradually faded. Better in the second half, on the right wing, he was less defensive. An encouraging match for him.
Vitinha (5.5) – Completely stifled by Bayern’s pressing in the first half. This is unusual. In the second half, less pressured, he played at his own pace, as we’ve come to expect.
Fabian Ruiz (3) – Poor decision-making in the first half; he looked physically sluggish. A match to forget for him. Substituted in the 65th minute by Joao Neves.
Forwards –
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (5) – We’ve seen the Georgian perform better; he tried, but like the rest of the team, he was stifled in the first half. He tried a lot in the second half but lacked the necessary precision.
Ousmane Dembélé (Not rated) – Substituted in the 27th minute by Lee Kang-in (6) – He brought intensity and played with the right attitude. A little limited at times (speed). We can’t fault him for a timid entrance.
Bradley Barcola (3) – He had his chances in the first half, but he wasn’t very incisive. He made a lot of technical errors. Substituted in the 65th minute by Gonçalo Ramos.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (4) – His PSG lost the battle 11 against 11, which is the lesson learned. His handling of Dembélé will be a subject of debate, and it’s clear he has few options when his players are absent offensively, especially in these kinds of matches.
