This Saturday at 5 p.m. (CET), Paris Saint-Germain (1st) faces Monaco (8th) at the Stade Louis II for Matchday 14 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. In a press conference, Monaco coach Sébastien Pocognoli spoke about the upcoming match and their Parisian opponent. He wants to enjoy the game and for his team to play with an open mind.

“The match against PSG

PSG is a team that plays at a Champions League level. There are many matches like this in Ligue 1; it’s part of the season. It’s a home game against the best team in France in recent years. It’s a great challenge, we have everything to gain.

We’ll have to put in a good performance, trying to be as ambitious as possible by implementing the style of play we’ve wanted since I arrived, even if it’s not always visible. We want to be high up the pitch, pressing them in their own half; that’s our ambition for tomorrow, while maintaining a positive and winning mentality.”

Pocognoli: “We are aware of the opponent we’re facing.”

PSG’s strengths

Everyone knows their collective and individual qualities. They’ve had stability for several years and have quality players; there’s no need to elaborate further. We are aware “We need to consider both our opponent and our own strengths. We’ll have to play to our strengths to win the match we want to win.”

For Paris Saint-Germain, this trip to Monaco comes with a real challenge: maintaining their momentum in a schedule where every slip-up can reignite the competition. Paris is coming off a generally solid run, but a great match at the Stade Louis-II would allow them to reaffirm, once again, that Luis Enrique’s team is in complete control of its progress.

On the other side, Monaco is experiencing an inconsistent start to the season for a club expected to be aiming for the top of the table. It is precisely this context that makes the match so dangerous: ASM has never had, and needs, a benchmark performance to get its season back on track and reassure its fans. Pocognoli knows this; his team needs to make a big statement to regain credibility.

These kinds of evenings, in the unique atmosphere of the Stade Louis-II, often offer a scenario where the intensity rises very quickly. And Paris, for its part, must step up to avoid extending a hand to an opponent ready to do anything to get back on track.
