Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco faced off this Saturday at the Stade Louis II in Matchday 14 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. The match ended in a 1-0 defeat for PSG. After the game, Monaco coach Sébastien Pocognoli spoke at a press conference. He discussed his team’s performance and the potential red card Lamine Camara could have received for his controversial tackle on Lucas Chevalier.
Pocognoli: “There was a winning mentality, aggression. Sometimes bordering on the edge, but I have no problem with that.”
Your feelings after the victory?
“It was a complete performance, in many aspects. It’s satisfying, of course, to get back to winning ways. Regardless of the opponent.” Especially against one of the best teams in Europe right now, if not the best. It’s a doubly positive feeling.
What did you appreciate most?
Quite simply, I recognized myself in my team today. There was a winning mentality, aggression. Sometimes bordering on the extreme, but I have no problem with that. It was a team that wanted to press, that was solid and united. With attacking play and a lot of personality.
Pocognoli: “I prefer my players to put in the tackle.”
Does this match show your team’s potential in the defensive block?
Yes, because the players wanted to do it together, and that shows it’s possible to do it with this group. We’re going to try to do it again. We were compact, always pushing forward. Against a very good Paris team, which can quickly break through the lines. So it was all the more audacious and courageous.
A possible red card for Camara for the tackle on Chevalier?
I’m not going to go over every situation again, just as I didn’t when the opponent could have been sent off. I think everything evens out at the end of the season. Perhaps this is a pivotal moment. I’m not going to complain. I prefer my players to put in a good effort, rather than the opposite. Or to get red cards when it’s a 50/50 game and have things turn against us. Today, that wasn’t the case.
