Ibrahim Mbaye, the 17-year-old Paris Saint-Germain and Senegal striker, is currently making a name for himself at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations thanks to some impressive appearances for his national team. His compatriot Pape Gueye (the 26-year-old Villarreal midfielder) commented on the Parisian youngster’s contribution in the mixed zone after the 1-1 draw against DR Congo.
“We see him every day in training; he’s a young player who brings a lot to the team with his fearlessness, he’s daring,” he said, as reported by L’Equipe.
Mbaye does indeed possess the creativity and explosiveness to inject some “wildness” into the attacking third. This can be extremely beneficial, the key being to find the right balance and remain clear-headed in his decisions. This is the main area for improvement for the Parisian youngster, who is sometimes a little rushed or erratic.
Nothing unusual at only 17 years old; there’s a necessary and logical learning process. The hardest part is finding more wisdom without completely abandoning his carefree attitude. This will be one of the biggest challenges for Mbaye, both at PSG and with Senegal.
