On Sunday evening, Lille hosted Olympique Lyonnais in the Round of 32 of the 2025-2026 Coupe de France. During the 1-2 defeat, midfielder Benjamin André (35 years old) had to leave the field in the 58th minute due to a shoulder injury. The news provided by coach Bruno Génésio is reassuring, but he is likely to miss the match against Paris Saint-Germain on Friday (Ligue 1 Matchday 18).
“He underwent tests, there’s no fracture. That’s good news this evening. We’ll see how long he’ll be out; I don’t know how long he’ll be absent,” he said, as reported by L’Equipe.
This isn’t exactly good news for Lille, who are eliminated from the Coupe de France, but at least André seems to have avoided a long absence. He is still injured, however, and the trip to Paris is fast approaching. We’ll have to wait for certainty. LOSC would undoubtedly prefer to field their best players against PSG, but they can’t afford to take any particular risks going forward.
