On Matchday 19 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain faces Auxerre at the Stade Abbé-Deschamps this Friday at 8:00 PM CET. A win is essential to allow them to comfortably watch the other results, including the highly anticipated Marseille vs. Lens match.

With a weekend sandwiched between two weeks of Champions League and Europa League fixtures, there could be a few surprises. PSG must approach their trip to Auxerre with utmost seriousness to avoid being one of them. They should have recovered some energy for this. In any case, they have the strengths to win against a 17th-placed team currently struggling. Anything less would be a major disappointment for Paris and a significant achievement for Auxerre.
Especially since there’s a very exciting clash this Saturday, with Marseille (3rd) hosting Lens (1st). With 3 points, PSG can reclaim first place or create a significant gap with third. It’s difficult to predict who will come out on top in this duel, even though Lens are on an eight-game winning streak. It should at least be a spectacular match.
Just behind them, Lyon (4th) must try to capitalize on this. Either to overtake Marseille for 3rd place, or to close the gap on Lens. In good form, Lyon must be wary of an upset against a Metz side that refuses to give up despite their current crisis. They should be wary of a rebound following a coaching change ((Stéphane Le Mignan has been replaced by Benoît Tavenot).
Next up is another clash, between Lille (5th) and Strasbourg (7th). Lille need to end their three-game losing streak, and it’s no easy task against Strasbourg, who are battling inconsistency to secure European qualification at the end of the season. But they can cause problems for anyone.
Next up is a tantalizing Breton derby between Rennes (6th), who just suffered a frustrating setback with a 1-1 draw against Le Havre, and Lorient (12th), who have been enjoying a bit of a respite lately. The same cannot be said for Monaco, now 9th, who desperately need to bounce back in Le Havre. However, nothing is ever easy with this away match.
Finally, in the relegation battle, FC Nantes (16th) and OGC Nice (15th) will fight tooth and nail for a bit of extra help, while Paris FC (13th) and Angers (11th) face off as clubs desperately seeking a bit more stability.
