On Sunday evening, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-1 victory against Strasbourg in Matchday 20 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season at the Stade de la Meinau. Here are the highs and lows of this win.
Highs –
❤️ The reaction when down to 10 men.
In a difficult match, receiving a red card in the 75th minute was certainly cause for concern. But this PSG side knows how to fight back and grew stronger as a team to respond and secure the 3 points in this trip to Strasbourg. A real strength to build upon.
Safonov solid.
In a tough match, PSG could count on a goalkeeper in top form. Notably, he saved another penalty. It’s encouraging to see positives in this position after so much uncertainty.
Lee Kang-In returns.
He’s not seen as a “key” player, but Lee Kang-In is nonetheless important thanks to his technical ability and exceptional versatility, as he can play in any position in midfield and attack. He’s a real asset to the team, and it’s positive to see him fit to play again. Furthermore, he made a superb entrance and was instrumental in PSG’s second goal.
Flops –
😡 PSG lacked sharpness for a half.
Admittedly, the Parisians had possession of the ball from the first half. However, their play was often rather slow and ineffective when they tried anything other than simple passes. This contrasted sharply with some very nice attacking moves from Strasbourg. Fortunately, they improved afterward.
Mbaye invisible.
Starting the match, the 18-year-old striker had the opportunity to impress in Strasbourg. He certainly missed his chance, as he had no impact during the first half. It’s no offense to admit we forgot he was even on the pitch for a moment.
Hakimi’s red card.
It’s good to see PSG reacting collectively when down to 10 men, but that red card is regrettable. Hakimi should have avoided his reckless tackle and he’ll be suspended at least for the home game against Marseille next Sunday (Ligue 1 Matchday 21).
