As is customary after each round of league matches, L’Équipe has published its Team of the Week for Matchday 20 of Ligue 1 2025-2026, which took place this past weekend. With their 2-1 victory against Strasbourg at the Stade de la Meinau, Paris Saint-Germain has one player selected.

Matvey Safonov (26-year-old goalkeeper) is no surprise in this Team of the Week. He delivered a complete performance, with several saves, composed footwork, successful clearances, and even a penalty save. This vindicates PSG coach Luis Enrique, who started him over Lucas Chevalier (24). The latter received a clear message: he will have to do more in Paris. He now needs to redouble his efforts against the Russian, who seems to be in excellent form this season.
There are no other Parisians in this starting eleven, and it’s understandable given the team’s mixed performance, even if they showed more control in the second half. One might have expected Warren Zaïre-Emery (the 19-year-old midfielder), still very well-rounded and providing an assist, or the second goalscorer, Nuno Mendes (the 23-year-old left-back). But other Ligue 1 players also deserved recognition, even if Van den Boomen (the 30-year-old midfielder on loan from Ajax Amsterdam to Angers this winter) doesn’t yet have his own photo.
