In the 20th round of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain traveled to the Stade de la Meinau to face RC Strasbourg and won 2-1. Speaking to PSG TV, Luis Enrique, the club’s coach, reflected on the result after the match.
Enrique: “This victory is very important for us.”
“Our team gives everything. That’s a real strength. Our first half wasn’t good. We controlled the game, but very far from the opposition’s goal. It was a little difficult, but towards the end of the second half, we had possession in the opposition’s half. We created more chances, it continued to be complicated, but I think this victory is very important for us, for our confidence, and we remain top of the table.”
Enrique: “This unity is very important for the team.”
“It’s important for next weekend’s match against Marseille. Our supporters?” They are impressive. They never stop throughout the entire match. For us, it’s important to know they’re there. We try to match their level. I think this connection is very important for the team and for the club.”
An important victory for PSG, who reclaim the top spot in the standings and leave their current closest rival, RC Lens, two points behind. It wasn’t all smooth sailing in this match against Strasbourg, always a dangerous side at home. As has often been the case this season, PSG managed to control the game, create chances, and open the scoring before ultimately conceding a goal.
Reduced to 10 men, the Parisians had to fight hard to regain the lead late in the game and secure the victory. These three valuable points away from home allow PSG to reclaim their place at the top of the table. Now it’s time to rest and properly prepare for Le Classique and the visit of Olympique de Marseille next Sunday at the Parc des Princes to close out Matchday 21.
