The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) met this evening to decide on the various sanctions to be imposed following recent matches in French professional football. Among the topics discussed was Achraf Hakimi, the 27-year-old right-back for Paris Saint-Germain, following his red card on Sunday against Strasbourg in the 2-1 victory (Ligue 1 Matchday 20). He was initially expected to receive an automatic one-match suspension, but the LFP decided to add a second match suspended.
“One-match suspension and one-match suspended with probation
Achraf HAKIMI (Paris Saint-Germain)”
Hakimi will therefore, unsurprisingly, miss the home game against Olympique de Marseille this Sunday (Ligue 1 Matchday 21), but not any other matches for the time being. He will need to be careful to avoid accumulating further suspensions. This decision seems logical after his reckless tackle.
