On Saturday evening, as part of the 26th round of Ligue 1 matches, OGC Nice hosted Paris Saint-Germain. It was a non-event for Les Aiglons, as the capital club dominated and controlled the game. Luis Enrique’s men won 4-0 (see the video highlights) and temporarily reclaimed the top spot in the league, despite having rested and rotated their squad. Melvin Bard, OGC Nice defender, spoke to Ligue1+ about the match:
Bard: “We collapsed in the second half”
That’s tough, Melvin. There was that penalty, that red card, and after that, it took the wind out of your sails?
The penalty hurt us, and the red card even more, I think. It’s a shame because we played a very good first half, both in terms of our intentions and what we offered. I think we collapsed in the second half, and we can’t give up. We knew it was going to be tough against PSG. We have a match next weekend, and we’ll have to bring the same intensity and win.
Did you create any chances? What about staying up?
Yes, it’s going to be tough. There’s still the semi-final, and we have to maintain the same intensity we showed in the first half. And I think we’ll be able to do it.
