Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazilian national team coach, held a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against Croatia at 2:00 AM (CET). He was asked about the fitness of Marquinhos, the 31-year-old Paris Saint-Germain center-back and captain, who missed last Thursday’s match against France.

“Ancelotti is keeping his starting lineup a secret, but confirms that Marquinhos and Vinicius Jr. will start against Croatia.”
Ancelotti wasn’t much more specific, simply stating that Marquinhos and forward Vinicius Jr. (25, Real Madrid) are fit for the match and will start. This is good news, as it means they are not currently injured. It was just a minor issue for the PSG defender. Unfortunately, this also means they will be playing late in the international break and could be rested this weekend.
This is especially true for PSG, with a match this Friday against Toulouse in the 28th round of Ligue 1 (kick-off at 8:45 pm, broadcast on Ligue 1+). We’re keeping our fingers crossed that there won’t be any further injuries in this match, just like the others this evening, as the injury list seems to be nearing its end.
