Lucas Hernandez, the 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender, spoke to Ligue1+ after the 3-1 victory against Toulouse this Friday at the Parc des Princes, in the 28th round of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season.
Hernandez: “We have to stay vigilant”
A hard-fought victory?
We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy win. Some of our international players returned yesterday. So, getting into shape was important. We did that. Now, we have to prepare as best we can for Wednesday’s match.
Is PSG complacent or do they need to stay vigilant?
Of course, we have to stay vigilant. Lens is having a very good season. It’s up to us to continue in this vein and perform well to win this championship that we so desperately want.
How to approach the final sprint?
We have to stay on this path; we know it’s not easy. There’s a big match on Wednesday, but our confidence is at 10%. It’s up to us to be ready on Wednesday and in the return leg in Liverpool.
Hernandez: “He won the Ballon d’Or for a reason.”
Dembélé still surprising us?
Yes, of course! He’s an extraordinary player. Last year, he won the Ballon d’Or for a reason. He’s a tremendous asset to our attack. He’s in a period of great confidence. It’s great to have him on the team. I’ve already played against him, and it’s tough; it’s great to have him on the team.
Capable of winning the Ballon d’Or again?
I don’t know, but I hope so. He’s a great person. He’s a leader on and off the pitch.
