Paris Saint-Germain defeated Bayern Munich 5-4 this Tuesday at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League semi-final (the second leg is on Wednesday, May 6). After this victory, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke to CBS Sports Golazo.
Luis Enrique: “Everyone is exhausted and happy.”
One of the best semi-finals in history, what was it like to experience as a coach?
You can never be angry with your players, no matter how many goals you concede. Both teams showed what they are, what they want to convey. It was time to celebrate. There was always something there, a great intensity. Everyone is exhausted and happy. We beat one of the best teams in Europe, perhaps the best this season.
A word on the penalties?
I don’t remember, I try not to analyze it. The referees do their job. Each team had its moments. They started better, we struggled. In the second half, we were the ones who started better. We’re happy to have won.
Luis Enrique: “What you shouldn’t do against a team like that.”
Any regrets after leading 5-2?
We need to analyze the match calmly, after resting. When you’re winning 5-2, even if you don’t want to, you defend a little deeper. That’s what you shouldn’t do against a team like that, who know very well how to score in those situations.
