Ousmane Dembélé, the 28-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward, spoke to CBS Sports Golazo after PSG’s 5-4 victory over Bayern Munich (PSG/Bayern Munich highlights) on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League semi-final (the second leg is on Wednesday, May 6).
Dembélé: “We’re only at half-time in the semi-final.”
Really satisfied even though it was 5-2?
Obviously, it was better. But it’s the Champions League semi-final, there are two great teams on the pitch. Bayern is incredible. They attack, we attack. We had to stay focused at 5-2; there are two great teams, anything is possible. We’re only at half-time in the semi-final. We have to suffer to reach the final.
It was possible to close it out at 5-2, but that’s not your style?
That’s right, but in this kind of match you have to play with your head. These are details. The 5-3 scoreline was a blow. It will be difficult in Munich, but we’ll try to win again.
Dembélé: “Both teams will attack, and I hope it will make for another spectacular match.”
The battle in Évreux isn’t over yet (Dayot Upamecano comes from the same town as him)?
No, it’s only halftime. I scored, and so did he. We’ll see next week (smiles).
We’ve rarely seen so many attacking players in top form on the pitch?
Yes, that’s right. Both teams attack, all the players. It makes for a spectacular match. It’s magnificent for the spectators, but it takes a lot of energy. We expect the same thing next week.
Will the match be just as good next week?
I hope so, with a win for us. Both teams will attack, and I hope it will be another spectacular match. It will be fun for us, and especially for you.
Dembélé: “If you don’t press, if you don’t defend, Luis Enrique will bench you.”
How do you have so much energy when pressing? What do you eat?
(laughs) It’s simple: if you don’t press, if you don’t defend, Luis Enrique will bench you (smiles).
