Julian Alvarez, the 26-year-old Argentinian striker for Atletico Madrid (under contract until 2030), was linked with Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024 when he left Manchester City. However, the idea of a move to Paris has recently resurfaced. This has been dismissed by Sport on Tuesday, leaving the door open for FC Barcelona.
“PSG is not considering signing the Argentinian.”
Sources at PSG, consulted by SPORT, simply indicated that Julian Alvarez is not currently in Luis Enrique’s plans. Any potential changes to the Parisian attack would be in a different direction and would also depend on player departures.
For now, despite Luis Enrique’s admiration for Julián Álvarez, PSG isn’t considering signing the Argentinian, let alone spending such a sum on a striker, until the club has resolved its departure issues.
“At Barça, it’s time to calm things down regarding Julián Álvarez.”
At Barça, especially after the numerous matches against Atlético de Madrid, it’s time to calm things down regarding Julián Álvarez. We need to be less noisy and more patient while we wait for the end of the season, for Mateu Alemany to abandon his maximalist approach and find the right people to facilitate potential negotiations with Barça.
Nothing is impossible, but we must remain cautious when faced with a rumor. However, it’s at least as credible as PSG’s attempt to sign Alvarez. An interesting player, but one who already avoided Paris when he left Manchester City and who seems very expensive at the moment. In any case, there’s nothing concrete regarding a transfer.
A change of heart isn’t impossible, but Paris, the Argentinian, and Atlético may have other priorities. We wouldn’t be surprised if PSG were actually making progress on a player who is currently little, if at all, being mentioned.
