On Saturday at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Arsenal on penalties (1-1 in regulation time, 4-3 on penalties) in the 2025-2026 Champions League final (PSG/Arsenal match summary). João Neves, 21, reflected on the match and his joy at being part of the team.
Neves: “I hope to continue with this group and this way of playing.”
A great moment?
I’m happy for the group, we’re proud of our work. We’re preparing match by match, we’ll see. We’re happy, we’re going to continue playing this way. The fans are very happy and we play for that.
After the match?
Honestly, it was incredible. The president spoke, everyone spoke, the captain, and he’s proud of us, and we’re proud of the staff and the management. I feel like we’re a real team, and that’s why I always say I’ve been so happy since I arrived in Paris. I hope to continue with this group and this way of playing.
A special group?
It’s incredible. For me, I’m only 21, I’ve never experienced anything like this before. We’re just enjoying ourselves while playing football. I’m very proud of this team and what we’ve done for the past two years. We want to keep moving forward.
Neves: “We’re going to try to do the same thing, and even better.”
A historic performance?
It’s incredible. It’s a trophy PSG had never won before. Winning it for the first time and doing it back-to-back will go down in PSG history. That’s why we’re here; it’s not for ourselves. It’s for our family, our fans. What we’re experiencing now is incredible. We’re going to keep going like this, we’re going to try to do the same thing, and even better.
