Yanis Khafi, a 20-year-old midfielder developed at Paris Saint-Germain, saw his trainee contract expire this summer. A decision regarding his first professional contract therefore had to be made. According to Foot Mercato, the PSG academy graduate is heading to Italy.
“According to our information, the 20-year-old midfielder is set to join Carrarese, a Serie B club that recently finished 12th in the league. Back in September, Luis Enrique had notably included him in the squad for a match against Auxerre (though he did not come off the bench).
This is a credible report; it would be somewhat surprising for the outlet to be so definitive without a solid basis. It is not a situation that has generated much buzz. Moreover, it is unclear to what extent PSG attempted to retain Khafi in their squad. Given the fierce competition within the professional ranks, it certainly appears that the academy product is looking to launch his career elsewhere. We are still awaiting official confirmation to be certain, however, as things can move very quickly in football.”
