On Tuesday evening, the French national team secured a 3-0 victory over Sweden in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. After the game, FIFA named the Player of the Match: Kylian Mbappé, the 27-year-old forward for Les Bleus and Real Madrid.

It was an unsurprising win for Mbappé, who delivered an all-round performance highlighted by a fine brace. The Bleus captain is proving he is in top form to help his team go all the way. However, he is far from alone; credit must go to the collective effort, not least to the magician Michael Olise (24), who provided the service. Although the Bayern Munich player has yet to score a goal himself, he could easily have claimed this individual award as well.
