Joan Laporta has responded to rumors linking FC Barcelona forward Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain. In comments reported by Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona president stated that he has received no confirmation of the move and reiterated that the Spanish international remains a Barça player.
Laporta: “We haven’t had any confirmation yet”
“I’ve heard about it, but we haven’t had any confirmation yet. He is an FC Barcelona player—one of the 14 players we have here.
Ferran is also performing very well; whenever he steps onto the pitch, he is a real threat. That pass to Merino was incredible. In any case, we have excellent footballers here at the World Cup, which is why I am here myself.”
This initial official response from FC Barcelona suggests that one should approach the Ferran Torres rumors with considerable caution. While Joan Laporta did not confirm any negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain, he also stopped short of categorically denying interest from the Parisian club.
The Catalan president simply highlighted the player’s current status and praised his performances for Spain at the World Cup. It was a standard institutional statement for the transfer window—one that offers no clear indication of whether the matter might actually progress once the tournament concludes.
