In the last few hours, reports emerged that Real Madrid was seizing the opportunity to jump ahead in the race. TalkSport confirmed this on Sunday evening, reporting that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs.

No sooner had this seemingly credible announcement surfaced than journalist Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sport Germany) issued a clear denial:

As of this minute, absolutely nothing has been agreed between RB Leipzig and Real Madrid for Yan Diomande – not even an agreement in principle.
All parties involved have confirmed this: RB Leipzig, Real Madrid and the player’s camp. Reports claiming otherwise are simply incorrect.
Negotiations are ongoing. Leipzig remain relaxed. No representatives from Real Madrid are currently on site. Real have the best chance at this stage, but even the transfer fee has not yet been agreed. PSG still involved.
It is impossible to get a clear picture amidst such contradictory claims made in such a short span of time. It is worth noting that the German journalist highlights PSG’s continued involvement, even though many are speaking as if the matter were already settled. However, the interest from Paris remains just a rumor, lacking concrete confirmation. That is the nature of the transfer window: a lot is said, but very little is actually confirmed.
And, as happens every year, some people get worked up or anxious when we are far from the finish line. Let’s allow the clubs to do their work and the players to fully weigh their options. We can take stock once the transfer window closes on September 1st. That said, it seems to us that PSG has proven over the past three years that they deserve a certain amount of trust.
