Zion Suzuki, the 23-year-old Japan and Parma goalkeeper (under contract until 2029), has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain as a potential target for the 2026 transfer window. Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed Paris’s interest this Monday, noting that the goalkeeper is also being tracked by Juventus.
“PSG see Suzuki as an investment for future”
It initially seemed like a far-fetched rumor, but confirmation from such a generally reliable journalist lends it more credibility. Could PSG ultimately look to shake things up in the goalkeeping department? It isn’t entirely implausible; Lucas Chevalier (24) has clearly disappointed and might seek a move to revitalize his career. Although that idea had been largely dismissed recently, it was only ever a rumor to begin with.
Suzuki is a talented goalkeeper; PSG might take a chance on him to prepare for the future and provide competition for Matvey Safonov (27)—without applying immediate pressure and perhaps fostering a better atmosphere than keeping Chevalier. However, a deal is far from done. Chevalier hasn’t left, and Suzuki isn’t close to joining yet. He may have other priorities, such as a spot at Juventus. Not to mention that Parma’s stance remains unstated.
As is often the case during the transfer window, one must wait for certainty. Even if things are dragging on a bit for PSG, there is still time.
