Paris Saint-Germain and Lille faced off this Friday at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Matchday 2 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. The match ended in a 2-2 draw. After the game, Lille midfielder and captain Benjamin André (36) spoke to Ligue1+.
André: “Referees come and give their spiel before the season starts…”
We saw you were extremely fired up at the end, and I understand why. Tell us about that frustration.
Oh, we understand it—and you understood it too.
Does that extra minute overshadow the performance you put in?
It comes down to points; that’s what they fail to grasp, time and again. Referees come and give their spiel before the season starts—we have discussions—and while I can understand adding another 30 or 40 seconds, we can see that those extra 15 seconds at the end are what turned the match around.
André: “What kills us is that final minute—plain and simple.”
Throughout the match, we were very active and defended well. We could have done better in possession—there’s plenty to critique—but what kills us is that final minute—plain and simple.
